Types of lakes

Types

Tectonic lakes: These lakes filled the depressions caused by faults and folds. Are lakes formed by the movement of soil, preventing the free flow of a river.

of barriers: They are formed when glacial moraines or other materials, such as lava flows or landslides, valleys, clogging and allow the accumulation of water and prevent drainage.

Glaciers: Glaciers dug broad basins to polish the bedrock and redistribute the materials pulled. A glacial lake formed when water eroded the space occupied by the ice mass.

of crater Can be given after the explosion crater of a volcano, which is a volcanic caldera collapse or circular may be flooded after the end forming a lake. If the crater has no cracks and is composed of materials of low porosity, a lake can become permanent if it receives enough rain water.

endorheic: endorheic basin lakes are depressions in the earth's crust that have no outlet to the sea. Usually contain something salty waters due to the progressive concentration of salts as a result of evaporation. Pelagic

: pelagic lakes are only remnants of ancient seas were surrounded by land.

How to measure the flow of water in a river or stream?

This process involves two things:

1. High water level in the stream or river.
2. Stream or river discharge (stream flow)

High water level in the stream:

Often during a heavy rain will be announced on the radio that "The White River is overloaded and is estimated to reach level 7 feet. "

The" 7 feet "represent an excess of river water level, measured in meters above a certain level previously established.

River
Download:

This is the amount of water flowing in a river during an intense period of rain, whose flow is reported in cubic feet per second (cfs) or liters pos (mgd) .

A high water level in the stream also means more intense shock.

discharge measurement is to calculate the amount of water flowing at any given time during a high water level in the stream.

For example, at a height of 21 feet, the River White may have a water discharge of 8,000 cubic feet per second. A cubic foot of water flowing per second is equivalent to 28.3 liters per second (7.48 gallons). more

Using WATER ON EARTH.

WATER ON EARTH.

How much water is exactly the Planet?.

Where is this water?.

How do you move through the Earth?

"Rivers, streams? All these are names that give the water flowing on the surface of the earth.

The streams are the smallest of the three streams are the medium and the largest rivers.

What is a river?

A river is flowing surface water on the land of a higher altitude to a lower altitude due to gravity.

Where does the water?.

The river water does not all come from surface runoff.

The rain that falls to the ground and is filtered groundwater.

At a certain depth below the surface layer is the water table, soil becomes waterlogged.

The aquifer, the ground beneath the water table is saturated while the upper soil is not. The first layer is usually moist, but not completely saturated.

Where is the water on earth?

Water is always moving around, through and on Earth in the form of vapor, liquid water and ice.

rain.

Rain and snow are important parts of the water cycle, which is vital for life that exists in the world.

The rain is essential if the water is in the heavens down to Earth, where filled with lakes and rivers, recharge groundwater and provide water for plants and animals.

rain runoff.

When rain or snow falls to the ground, not deposited there only but begins to move downward following the laws of gravity.

Some of this precipitation seeps into the ground replenishing aquifers.

Most of this water runs to lower levels

Meteorological factors affecting runoff.

• Type of precipitation (rain, snow, sleet, etc.)..

• Intensity of rain.

• Amount of rain.

• Duration of the rain.

• Distribution of rainfall over the drainage basin.

air temperature, wind, relative humidity and
stations

physical characteristics affecting runoff.

• Land use

• Vegetation • Soil type

• Drainage Area

• Form of the basin

• Elevation • Decline

• Topography • Ponds, lakes, reservoirs, watersheds, that prevent or alter the runoff downstream.

• Runoff from agricultural land (and even our backyards) can cause excess chemicals such as nitrogen and phosphorus into rivers, lakes and aquifers. These chemicals in excess can damage the water quality in the surface and the groundwater.
